Why We Built DF-18

We went looking for a golf nutrition product that actually worked. We couldn't find one. So we built it ourselves.

Golf Is the Most Demanding Sport You're Not Taking Seriously

When we started looking into where sports nutrition fit into golf, we interviewed golfers to understand what they actually deal with. What came back was eye-opening.

The golfer is a uniquely demanding endurance athlete — not because of physical intensity, but because the game requires fine motor skill control and high-pressure decision-making consistency across 4 to 6 hours. A millimeter twitch in your clubface sends the ball 100 yards off line. In most sports, the fight-or-flight response can work in your favor. In golf, it destroys you. Matches are won through consistency — one or two brilliant holes can't save you if the other 16 were subpar.

That single insight changed everything about how we thought about the problem.

Every Golfer We Talked to Had the Same Problem — and No Real Answer

Universally, golfers described the same symptoms building on the back nine: heavy legs, brain fog, waning motivation, a swing their coach had dialed in that inexplicably started falling apart around hole 10.

We felt we knew why it was happening. The real surprise came when we asked what they were doing to fix it. One person copied Tiger Woods' PB&J sandwiches. Another drank a few Gatorades. Someone avoided coffee before tee time. They were grasping at straws — and when we asked if any of it consistently worked, the answer was a sheepish but resounding "no."

We then looked at the market. What we found was zero products specifically built for what golfers actually face. Just energy drinks dressed up with golf logos, generic electrolyte powders, and supplements making claims no formula could deliver. A lot of snake oil. Nothing real.

We Didn't Have Funding. We Had a Garage and a Gram Scale.

We didn't even have a company yet. What we had was a hypothesis: the back nine problem wasn't mental. It was a nutrition problem. And we thought we could fix it.

So we sourced our own ingredients and spent two weeks in a garage in Somerville, MA building a prototype from scratch. The goal was specific: one serving, taken at the start of the round, that delivers sustained stamina, focus, and hydration for all 18 holes — caffeine-free, sugar-free, no crash.

When we thought we had it, we found local golf instructors willing to test it. About a week later they came back: "Your product works. Can you make me some more?"

That's when we incorporated DriveForce and got to work.

The Only Golf Drink Designed Specifically for 18 Holes

DF-18 is the only single-serving, caffeine-free golf drink built from the ground up for the demands of a full round. One stick pack before your tee time — that's it. No mid-round refueling, no sugar crash on the back nine, no stacking multiple products hoping they add up to something. Just sustained stamina, focus, and hydration from the first tee to the 18th green, in a single serving designed specifically for golfers.
